What Makes This Trail Unique

The Bear Legacy Adventure Trail sits on 41 acres in Harford County and features three color-coded looping trails totaling about 1.5 miles, all of which are considered easy, mostly flat, and completely manageable for even the littlest explorers.

But what really sets this trail apart is everything you'll discover along the way. We're talking wooden climbing structures, a treehouse, obstacle courses to conquer, rock hopscotch tiles, a fairy garden, and a kids pretend creek to explore. It is pure magic.

The entire experience is built around open-ended, nature-based play, that sparks imagination, builds confidence, and will inspire kids to get outside. Every single time we visit, my daughter finds something new to discover and can spend hours here exploring.

An Adventure for Any Age

One of the things I love most about the Bear Legacy Adventure Trail is that it truly has something for every member of the family, no matter their age.

Toddlers can easily navigate the flat paths, and will love climbing the tree house, along with playing in the Christopher’s Creek play area. The older kids can tackle the climbing structures, conquer the tire wall, and explore every twist and turn the trail has to offer.

Honestly, even as an adult, I love this trail! It’s peaceful, stress-free, and I always have a blast completing the challenges alongside her. It's one of those rare spots where everyone leaves happy.

Four-legged friends welcome

And yes — your furry family members are welcome too! Leashed dogs are allowed on the trail, making it the perfect outing for the whole crew. Just be sure to clean up after your pup.

A Go-To Play Date Option

This has been a constant play date spot for us since she was little. As she’s grown, it still continues to be a place where we can meet up with friends for an outing, knowing that everyone will enjoy the experience.

We love to pack a picnic to bring along with us and can easily make this an hours long adventure. Again, with activities for every age, it’s great for families of multiples and for those play dates where you have a variety of ages to entertain.

Something to keep in mind

Unlike some of the other trails in our area, this one does not offer restrooms or trash cans.

Centrally Located

Here's one of my favorite things about this trail is its location. The trail is located just a short walk or drive from the Abingdon Branch of the Harford County Public Library.

The Story Behind it All

The Bear Legacy Adventure Trail was created by Stacy and Patrick Brzozowski in memory of their son, Bear.

What began as a simple trail system has grown into something truly extraordinary, built with love, community support, and an army of dedicated volunteers.

Every feature, every adventure station, every painted rock tells a piece of Bear's story. Knowing the heart behind it all makes every visit feel even more meaningful.

how to Support the Trail

Because the Bear Trail is 100% donation-funded and volunteer-driven, it exists entirely because of community love.

Every feature you see on that trail was made possible through the generosity of donors and the hard work of volunteers.

If you’re able, consider giving back! You can make a tax-deductible donation or find volunteer opportunities by visiting their website.
