Why We Love Trails in HarCo

As a mom, I know firsthand how important it is to find outdoor activities that are not only fun, but realistic for families with kids of all ages. It's always been my belief that the most memorable adventures don’t have to be complicated or expensive. Many of the best things to do with kids in Harford County are completely free, and our local parks and trails are a perfect example.

Whether you’re looking for a quick walk with your family, a nature-based activity, or just need to get the kids out of the house for a bit, this guide to 25+ Kid-Friendly trails offers endless opportunities right here in HarCo.

When we say a trail is kid-friendly, it’s because we’ve explored it ourselves. All photos and details are my own, gathered throughout our personal visits, so you can trust that what you see is what you’ll experience.

This is the waterfall at Kilgore Falls in Pylesville, MD. A small, rocky waterfall with trees at the top to provide shade on a hot summer day. You can swim in the shallow, rocky pool below.
