My go-to for a free summer activity, the Muddy Run splash pad is located an easy drive from HarCo and is incredible! The splash pad is huge, the playgrounds add in some extra fun, and it’s perfect for all ages.

Harford County’s only splash pad, this is great for younger ages. Free to visit, this water feature is attached to a playground, paved walking trail, and picnic pavilion.

This is a spot that is so worth the drive! The Lititz Springs Pool offers everything you could want in a pool day, plus affordable daily passes for guests.

When we want a beach day without the drive, Hammerman is always on the list of options. Offering a huge sandy beach area, beautiful views, and plenty to entertain kids, it’s a spot that never fails.

🏖️ A 1,500-foot sandy swimming beach on the banks of the Gunpowder River and in my opinion, one of the best family beach days near HarCo

One of the most famous spots in Harford County, Kilgore makes for an amazing nature-filled adventure for kids. Home of Maryland’s second highest waterfall, the hike is easy and there are plenty of shallow area for water play.

A quieter, family-friendly swim beach with calm water and a laid-back atmosphere that’s ideal for kids. We love this one for it’s beach day vibes, snack bar, and kids activities.

A budget-friendly community pool that delivers a classic summer swim experience with space for both little ones and seasoned swimmers. Offering day-passes, it is a great local option for a pool day without a membership.

My personal favorite, Shenny’s is a nostalgic, family-owned pool that offers much more than swimming for a full day of summer fun. Located right over the Maryland line, it’s an experience you have to try.

Rocky Point is such a hidden gem! With a spacious waterfront park with beach acces and scenic views, it offers a wide range of activities for a full summer day by the bay.

Whether you want a moms day out or a kid-friendly adventure, Sickman’s Mill will become your new go-to. They make tubing down the creek simple, with tubes provided and shuttle service back to the mill. Not to mention, their homemade pizza station and outdoor bar. It’s been a favorite of mine for years!

Add this into your next beach trip! We discovered Jungle Jim’s last year and it became an instant favorite. Offering a huge waterpark, it’s an awesome kid-friendly activity if your little ones aren’t quite ready for ocean swimming.

This Harford County park is such an underrated spot and is perfect for a summer day. Shaded, paved trails will lead you to waterfront access spots, playgrounds, and beautiful views.

A unique blend of history and nature where families can explore preserved buildings while accessing scenic trails. Jerusalem Mill includes an incredible waterfront spot, with shallow entry for play.

This is a beloved family farm located in northern Harford County. Shaw Orchards is one of those places that will become a tradition once you visit. Offering pick-your-own and a market filled with local favorites, it’s a spot you have to try.

FarmFinity at Stone View Farm is one of the most beautiful spots in HarCo and offers a variety of family-friendly activities for children of all ages and abilities. A visit to the farm can include a variety of PYO options and the opportunity to say hello to their animals.

One of the few places I’ve ever purchased a membership for, Ladew Gardens always tops our list of places to visit in the spring and summer. Beautifully manicured gardens, a butterfly habitat, and nature trails, make this an adventure families will love.
